Visit Any Time of Year

Flying Squirrel, located three miles out of town on the Talkeetna Spur, is open year round with expanded hours during the summer months. In addition to our warm, inviting dining room, almost everything is available for take out and we have a small outdoor seating area surrounded by local forest. A trail out the back door leads to Talkeetna Lakes Park, just a 10 minute walk or ski. Directions to the cafe are below. Directions

From Anchorage or Denali: turn onto the Talkeetna Spur at Mile 99 Parks Highway (Rte 3). Drive 11 miles toward Talkeetna. Flying Squirrel is located on the right just after the Mile 11 mile marker after Whigmi & Woodpecker Road intersection and before Comsat Road. The Talkeetna Spur is a "dead end" road that ends at the Talkeetna town site, 3 miles past Flying Squirrel.

From Talkeetna: Head up the hill on the Talkeetna Spur away from Talkeetna town site and toward the Parks Highway. Drive 3 miles out of town. Flying Squirrel is located on the left at Mile 11 of the Talkeetna Spur. If you pass the Whigmi & Woodpecker intersection you went just a little too far!
